Endotest
What is Endotest?
Endotest is a new, highly accurate, non-invasive test for endometriosis.
How is it done?
It involves collecting saliva (spit) in a tube, and then this is tested in a laboratory.
Where is the test done?
The test is performed in the comfort of your own home, and sent to a laboratory for testing. The test is organised through The Doctors Laboratory (TDL) in London, but actually processed in the Ziwig laboratory in France.
What does the result tell you?
The result is either positive (endometriosis is highly likely) or negative (endometriosis is highly unlikely).
How accurate is the test?
Research has shown that the test is very accurate (97%). If the test is positive, there is a 98% chance that if a laparoscopy was done endometriosis wouled be found. If it is negative, there will be no endometriosis in more than 91% of patients.
How does it work?
It tests for a specific microRNA “signature” in the saliva. MicroRNA are molecules involved in the regulation of creation or destruction of proteins in the body. Research suggests that if this process is faulty it can cause endometriosis.
